Hello! I’m Valerie

I am a former classroom teacher (B.A., Elementary Education) with a passion to equip struggling readers for academic success through Orton-Gillingham phonological support. I am a trained Special Education Advocate for families and students with learning differences, including 504 and IEP needs. Assistance with the identification of relevant testing needs and referrals for diagnosis of a suspected learning disability. I will work to ensure school implementation of academic support, accommodations, and modifications.

Wilson Reading System

The Wilson Reading System (WRS) is a structured literacy program based on phonological-coding research and Orton-Gillingham principles, WRS directly and systematically teaches the structure of the English language. Through the program, students learn fluent decoding and encoding skills and receive instruction in phonemic awareness, decoding and word study, sight word recognition, spelling, fluency, vocabulary, oral expressive language development, and comprehension.
